A Health Care Surrogate allows another person to make health care decisions for you, in the event you are either temporarily or permanently incapacitated. If you are incapacitated and you do not have a properly drafted Health Care Surrogate, a professional Guardian might be appointed to make those decisions for you.
With a Power of Attorney and a Health Care Surrogate, you can avoid Guardianship proceedings and whoever you appoint can make those decisions and act in your behalf.
